Slant Bed Turning Centers

Johnford Slant Bed Turning Centers are tough machines that are built to last. We build them with true slant beds, box ways and gearboxes - features others have eliminated to cut costs. If you need a machine with guts that hasn't been gutted, these are the machines for you. While they can handle the tough stuff with ease, they are equally as well suited to production. With state-of-the-art rapid traverse rates and servo turrets, they are fast too! Plus, we have nearly any size or type of configuration available. C axis and live tools, Y axis, sub-spindles, dual turrets / dual spindles, upper / lower turrets and a variety of spindle configurations are available to name a few. All Johnford turning centers are loaded with standard features that others call options. Features such as chip conveyors, fully programmable tailstocks, 12 tool turrets (minimum) and Fanuc CNC controls.

Johnford turning centers are available in 4 distinct series. The SL Series are small to medium size machines ranging from 6" chuck to 21" chuck size with bed length up to 100". From the 6 axis SL-250-2SD to the large SL-1000, we have any size and type of machine configuration to meet your requirements.

The ST Series are large, heavy duty 60 degree slant beds. These machines feature swings from 31" to 48"over the bed and turning lengths from 31.5" to 160". There are 7 different spindle combinations available from the "A" spindle with 4" bar capacity to the "G" spindle with more than a 12" through hole. With the heaviest machine weights in the industry and high power spindle motors and 2 or 4 speed gear boxes driving our rigid spindles, these machines are built for heavy turning of medium to large type parts. There are dozens of combinations available including machines with hex turrets designed specifically for the oil field industry. Plus, you will not find a more ergonomic large machine available anywhere. The 60 degree slant bed allows unparalled operator access and comfort.

The GT Series are truly giant machines. They are massive 45 degree slant beds with a 60 degree cross slide and 3 ways on the Z axis. With 61" swing over the bed and 50" over the cross slide plus bed lengths from 40" to 250", these are the machines for really large parts. The massive turret can handle up to 5" diameter boring bars. Several spindle configurations with bar capacities from 6.5" to 21" are available.

The HT Series machines are large 4 axis and multi-axis machines. These heavy duty 45 degree slant bed machines were designed in a modular configuration in which the machine can be twin turrets with a tailstock for between centers turning or twin turrets with a sub-spindle for complete machining of medium to large size parts.
